Australian Skills Quality Authority

Established in 2011, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) is responsible for ensuring the quality of education and training provided by vocational education and training (VET) providers in Australia. ASQA conducts strategic reviews to continuously improve the quality of its regulatory processes and outcomes. These reviews involve research and review of available literature and data, consultation with stakeholders, analysis of ASQA compliance information and other internal data, and other activities designed to respond to specific issues. One of the important purposes of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is to describe the qualifications in the Australian education and training system. ASQA conducts regular reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of AQF in meeting this purpose. These reviews assess the fitness-for-purpose of AQF, identify areas for improvement, and recommend changes as necessary. Overall, ASQA conducts strategic reviews to continuously improve the quality of its regulatory processes and outcomes, while also evaluating the effectiveness of policies like the AQF to ensure they are fit for purpose.
