All China Federation of Trade Unions

All China Federation of Trade Unions

Overview

Established in 1925, the All China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) is a national-level organization in China that represents and advocates for the rights and interests of Chinese workers. It was established in 1925 and is the only legal trade union in China. The ACFTU is affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party and has played a significant role in the country's labor movement. In addition to its advocacy work, the ACFTU is involved in vocational training, employment services and social welfare programs for workers. It also works closely with employers and the government to promote better working conditions and protect workers' rights. While the ACFTU has been criticized for not doing enough to protect workers' rights and for being too closely aligned with the government, it remains a significant force in China's labor movement and has been involved in several high-profile labor disputes.
