Overview

Established in 2010, the Opetushallitus is the Finnish National Agency for Education. It is responsible for the development of education and training at all levels in Finland, from pre-primary to higher education. The agency operates under the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Culture and carries out its duties through a range of functions, including policy development, administration, monitoring and evaluation. Opetushallitus is also responsible for implementing education and training reforms, promoting innovation in education and supporting the development of new educational materials and methods. Its mission is to ensure that all learners in Finland have access to high-quality education that meets their individual needs and prepares them for the challenges of the future.
