Overview

The Japan Institution for Higher Education Evaluation (JIHEE) is an independent organization that evaluates and accredits higher education institutions in Japan. It was established in 2004 as a nonprofit organization with the aim of ensuring and improving the quality of higher education in Japan. JIHEE conducts evaluations of universities, colleges and other higher education institutions, based on a set of standards developed in collaboration with stakeholders in the higher education community. The organization also provides support and guidance to institutions seeking to improve their quality management systems and educational programs. The evaluations carried out by JIHEE are voluntary, but many institutions choose to undergo the process to demonstrate their commitment to quality and to gain recognition for their achievements.
