Overview

The Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) is a non-profit organization responsible for the accreditation of respiratory therapy education programs in the United States. The organization was established in 1974 to ensure the quality of respiratory care education and promote the development of the respiratory therapy profession. CoARC sets accreditation standards for respiratory therapy programs, conducts site visits to evaluate program compliance and grants accreditation status to programs that meet the standards. CoARC is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the United States Department of Education (USDE).
