National Association of Schools of Theatre, Commission on Accreditation

Founded in 1981, the National Association of Schools of Theatre, Commission on Accreditation (NAST) is a recognized accrediting agency in the United States for undergraduate and graduate degree programs in theatre and related disciplines. NAST is a voluntary, non-governmental, membership organization that has been in existence since 1981. It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as an accrediting agency for theatre programs and is also a member of the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors. NAST reviews theatre programs at both public and private institutions to ensure that they meet rigorous standards of quality and excellence. The accreditation process includes an evaluation of a program's curriculum, facilities, faculty, student performance and other factors. NAST also requires schools to demonstrate ongoing improvement and commitment to their programs.
