Ukraine is divided into 27 regions, including 24 oblasts, one autonomous republic (the Republic of Crimea), and two cities with special status (Kyiv and Sevastopol). The majority of higher education institutions meeting the uniRank selection criteria are located in the Kyiv Oblast, which hosts the capital and largest city, Kyiv, as well as in the Kharkiv Oblast.
